Want to read the Bible with me?

Remember earlier this year when I read the Bible in 90 days? It was a great expeerience and I wanted to do something like it again.

So, starting May 1st (which is only a week away) a few friends and I will be reading the Bible together. This time in 180 days. May through October, we will be reading a few pages of the Bible each day from beginning to end.

Whould you like to join us? If so, leave me a comment or email me at hj_christensen@yahoo.com and I will send you the reading schedule that we will be following.

God bless!

Links and Stuff

Just want to share a few links and such that I loved recently.

First, if you are not watching Food Revolution, you should be. It is astounding to me what the attitude in this country is in regards to food. And it saddens me when I think about what children are eating. There is no way a french fry qualifies as a vegetable.....at least in my opinion.

A few people have asked about the english muffins I mentioned here. The recipe was from The Happy Housewife - here. They were really good and easy to make. I need to make another batch or two.

I won a book today over at Jenny's blog! I can't wait to see, it looks lovely. I think I connected with her through the Gratitude Community at Ann Voskamp's blog.

Speaking of Jenny, she wrote a wonderful post this week - The Worthiness of Ordinary - check it out.

And I always enjoy Ann's stuff. This week there was - weekends are for the mess and When it Comes Time to Really Die.

Kristen over at We Are That Family posted this week about teaching our children. She summed up well how I feel about teaching our children at home.....things that are important to us.....things we may not want them to learn about in a public school system. She made a great point that even if your children are in public school, we need to be intentional on what we do teach them at home as well. It's not just about being a homeschooler, but about being a parent.

That is enough for now. Have a wonderful weekend! We are off this afternoon to an Easter celebration with my family.

God bless!

Charlie

Charlie, Charlie, Charlie! The girl never stops talking. When she runs out of things to say she just makes up words. I have a note around here somewhere with a bunch of funny things she said one day. It was a couple of weeks ago and now I can't find it.

I do remember a conversation that went something like this.....

Charlie: I don't want pork chops from my cow.
Mom: That's good, pork chops don't come from cows. They come from pigs.
Charlie: No, pork chops are from cows.
Mom: No, steak comes from cows.
Charlie: No, pork chops are from cow and steaks is from pigs.

You get the idea. We went back and forth a couple more time.....I got nowhere.

Another.....

We were driving home from the grocery store and there was a school bus.

Charlie: Look mom, a bus.
Mom: Buses are cool aren't they?
Charlie: Yeah, cool. Dad is cool like buses.

Joe taught her to say "Dad is cool" a long time ago.

It's hard to believe its been almost 3 years since this girl arrived and turned our world upside down. We will never be the same.

We have also been working on normal 3 year old learning.....ABC's, counting and such.
