Our Day

We hit the ground running this morning.....

First up was chiropractor appointments for both the girls and I. They both do really well and Charlie impresses me everytime. She get right up on the table and listens to directions from doctor Ryan so well.

Then we headed to the clinic for check-ups for both the girls. We are not doctor seeing kind of people. I'm not a worrier and we are relatively healthy people and we don't vaccinate.....so no regular doctor visits.

Charlie had not had a well-child visit since she was 4 months old.....she is 34 months old. And Cori had not been in since she was 1 week old.....she is almost 8 months old. Both are perfectly healthy children and fall in the 25% - 50% range on the charts.....whatever that means.

If that wasn't enough running around for the morning, we then headed to Sam's Club and picked up some parts for Joe (who has been working like a mad-man this week).

Cori only napped in the van today, so she went to bed pretty early, but not before we spent a whole lot of time playing outside. The weather was beautiful! The sun was shinning! We needed no coats, no mittens, no boots! I was barefoot! It was something like 70 degrees today! Love it!

And I love a cute bonnet!

Bible in 90 Days - Day 80 to 88 (the end)

I did it! I read the entire Bible in 87 Days! It seems crazy, but what an amazing accomplishment. I'm so glad I read the entire Bible from cover to cover. But it has also reminded of many things I would like to study further.....Job, Romans, Revelations, Proverbs 31, and the Fruits of the Spirit.

This last week of reading included some of my favorite parts of Scripture.

Romans is such a good place to see the whole picture. To me it really ties the law into the grace of Jesus. It shows its not all about the law but about obedience to God.....about how we are made more aware of our sin in light of the law and though we have free will there is no way to do it ourselves. It is all about the gift of Christ.

Romans 3:20 - Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin.

Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 12:2 - Do not confom any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will.

1 Corinthians 10:23 - "Everything is permissible" - but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible" - but not everything is constructive.

I love the reminder of 1 Corinthians 13 in regards to love.....and often need to be reminded of it. Love is all about action!

Galatians 5:22-23 - But the fruit of the Spirt is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

Who doesn't need to have more love, joy, self-control and the like?

And the reason for reading the whole Bible.....

2 Timothy 3:16 - All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteuosness,

Hebrews 11:1 - Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certian of what we do not see.

Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

1 John 3:18 - Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with action and in truth.

I'm so glad I did this and am looking forward to doing it again, but a little slower pace the next time. If interested Amy at Mom's Toolbox is leading another Bible in 90 Days group again beginning July 1st.

God bless!

Yesterday We Said Goodbye.....

.....to Mr. Steer!

Granted we will say hello again in a couple of weeks, but he will be packaged quite differently. I think he knew where he was going. He did not want to go in the trailer.

Charlie and I have had a couple of conversations over the last week about the fate of Mr. Steer. She has went back and forth about it being a good thing. The talks have went something like this.....

Mom: Your cow is going bye bye, but we will get a new cow. A new little cow.
Charlie: I don't want a new cow. I want my old cow.

Mom: Remember, the cow is leaving and we will get a new cow.
Charlie: Ok. I don't want a new cow. I want a horse...that would be better.

Mom: The cow is going to be butchered and made into hamburger for us to eat.
Charlie: No, that's silly. We don't eat cow.

We do eat cow and like it.

God bless!

Cori Loves Her Johnny Jump-Up

Cori loves her johnny jump-up and it does entertain her for quite awhile.....always a plus for mama.

I took a little video of her this morning in it.

No, I don't know how to flip the video so you can watch it nicely.

Yes, I sound dorky.

Bible in 90 Days - Day 75 to 79

A bunch of verses from the last few days of reading.....

John 1:1-2 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

John 1:14 - The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.

John 3:17-18 - For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

John 14:6 - Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

John 21:25 - Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Acts 18:9-11 - One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: "Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent. For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city." So Paul stayed for a year and a half, teaching them the word of God.

Acts 20:35 - (partial)...remebering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

We are almost to the end, just about 100 pages left. What a great experience this has been! Some of it has been really difficult, but I'm so glad I stuck with it. I'm looking forward to doing it again.

God bless!

The Week in Pictures

How is it already Saturday? As I type this, I'm enjoying a chai latte at a local coffee shop and the girls are over at grandma's. I love my children and love spending time with them, but a little time for me is always nice.

See yesterday's post for the fun we had at the zoo this week. It was great fun and a nice mid-week break.

I tried a new recipe this week.....

.....homemade english muffins. They are yummy!

Speaking of food.....Charlie always likes to help in the kitchen and is learning the art of tasting as you go.

My baby is getting so big. She got up on her knees and was real close to standing this week. She has almost figured out crawling, too. There is no stopping her now.

Cori has moved past baby food and would rather feed herself. It makes for a much bigger mess, but it does give me a chance to eat my own food during meals.

The big girl has also figured out how to drink out of her sippy cup. Good thing since she was never fond of a bottle.

And so smart she is, she knows what happens when mom gets the camera out.....even if the flash blinds her in the process.

Friday night and the week finally caught up with Charlie. Two minutes before this picture, she told me.....I'm tired, lets go to bed. I guess she wasn't kidding.

And this is the story of my life.....many things started, nothing ever finished, a little dirty, aging, messy mixed in with the sweet goodness.

Have a blessed weekend!

A Trip to the Zoo

On Wednesday we took a trip to the zoo with some good friends, Tina, Laura and their children. We had a great time. The little ones had as much fun playing with each other as they did seeing all the animals. Bonus - everyone was pretty well behaved. And the weather was perfect.....sunny skies and warm spring temps!

After a full day at the zoo, Charlie did not fall asleep on the way home and did not go to bed until 9:30 pm that night.....she was pretty crabby, but swore up and down she was not tired. Cori on the other hand was in bed by 6:30 pm.....if only she would have slept throught the night.

Charlie loved the dolphin tank!

Tina took this right after Cori's nap.....she spent a good chunk of time "wrapped up".

End of the day and it was time for all the children to be contained.

God bless!
