Courageous.....and a giveaway!

And the winner is.....................................

#2 - Shelly B

Shelly - I will seed them out in some time in the next week. Enjoy! Holly

Last weekend, Joe and I were able to go and see the new movie from Sherwood Pictures - Courageous. Thanks grandma LuAnn for babysitting. It was wonderful! I laughed and I cried. It was inspiring and convicting.

The synopsis per the Courageous website:
Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, David Thomson, and Shane Fuller are confident and focused. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood.

While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they're quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark.

When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God ... and to their children?
Filled with action-packed police drama, COURAGEOUS is the fourth film from Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Georgia. Riveted moviegoers will once again find themselves laughing, crying, and cheering as they are challenged and inspired by everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children.

Protecting the streets is second nature to these men. Raising their children in a God-honoring way? That's courageous.

This movie isn't just for dads, but for everyone. There were situations that would speak to anyone...they were not all perfect fathers...not in the beginning nor in the end. And a great reminder for everyone...our children are an eternal treasure!

It may have been produced as an inspiration and conviction for fathers to step up, to lead their families, to teach their sons to be men and to do the right thing even if you have to stand alone, but I also took note of the wives portrayed in the movie.

They were helpmates to their husbands, they were encouraging and supportive. I particularly liked Carmen. A great reminder for me! I can always be a better wife and mother.

Since I truly enjoyed the movie, Courageous and have enjoyed Sherwood Pictures other films...I thought I would have a little giveaway.

For one lucky winner...a movie package of Sherwood Pictures other films - Fireproof, Facing the Giants, and Flywheel.

All you have to do to enter is leave a comment.
I will randomly pick a winner on Monday October 10th, 2011.

God bless!

  1. I am glad that you two were able to take advantage of the babysitting & go see the movie!  Lucky ducks!

Thanks for the chance for the giveaway! :)  I did finally watch all of fireproof and think it would be fun to do the Love Dares without my husband's knowledge. :)

God Bless Holly, and thanks again for the chance!

  2. This is a great blog Holli.  I love movies that are "real" and something we can all relate to. You took away from the movie that it is a good reminder; you can be a better wife and mother.  The movie sounds awesome, I love when you can laugh and cry!!

  3. I am a big fan of these movies! My favorite is Facing the Giants, and I go back and watch it every so often. It always inspires me to trust God more, and it strengthens my faith in Him.

This sounds like a great giveaway!
    Thanks,
    Wendy

  4. I saw it and quickly purchased a few tickets for the family.  Glad to read your view of a record breaking producer (Kendrick) who hopefully will continue and inspire other faith denominations to battle negative influences on children as well as the fatality of gangs, drugs, etc.
